Soft and Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies
These chocolate chip cookies are extra soft, thick, and chewy. This is my FAVORITE recipe for chocolate chip cookies, and they turn out perfect every time!
2 and 3/4 cups (345 grams) all-purpose flour (spooned & leveled)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (230 grams; 2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup (200 grams) light brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup (100 grams) granulated sugar
2 large eggs, at room temperature
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 12-ounce package (2 cups; 340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheets: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
Combine Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar together on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 1-2 minutes.
Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Fold in Chocolate Chips: Stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Chill the Dough: Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Chilling the dough helps prevent the cookies from spreading too much during baking.
Scoop and Bake: Once chilled, use a 1.5 tablespoon cookie scoop to portion out the dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still soft.
Cool: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
