The Cookie Croissant, affectionately known as the "crookie," is a delightful fusion of buttery, flaky croissant and gooey chocolate chip cookie dough. Originating from the Parisian bakery Maison Louvard, this indulgent treat has taken the internet by storm. Its popularity soared after a TikTok video showcased the irresistible combination, leading to long lines outside the bakery . Recreating this pastry at home is simpler than it seems, requiring just a few ingredients and minimal preparation. Whether you're a seasoned baker or a novice, this recipe promises a delectable dessert experience.
Ingredients:
For the Cookie Dough:
3¼ cups (390g) all-purpose flour
1¼ teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks or 226g) unsalted butter, softened
1½ cups (288g) light or dark brown sugar
½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1¼ cups (225g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
For the Croissants:
15 regular-sized croissants
Optional:
Powdered sugar, for dusting
Directions:
Prepare the Cookie Dough:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until creamy and well combined.
Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips.
Assemble the Croissants:
Using a serrated knife, slice each croissant in half horizontally, being careful not to cut all the way through.
Scoop a generous amount of cookie dough and gently press it into the center of each croissant.
Place the filled croissants on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and the cookie dough is set.
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly on a wire rack.
Serve:
Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
Enjoy warm for the best experience.
