1 ½ cups (180g) all-purpose flour
1 cup (120g) ground hazelnuts
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
3 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ cup (60ml) whole milk
Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch (23cm) round cake pan, or line it with parchment paper.
Combine Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, ground hazelnuts, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Alternate Adding Dry Ingredients and Milk: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the whole milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients, mixing just until incorporated after each addition.
Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
Cool and Serve: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, dust the top with powdered sugar if desired. Slice and serve.
