Disney's Wish has a problem....

The bad guy is a hero!

And, quite frankly, the most compelling one Disney has had since the original Frozen!

A lot of people on the Internet have commented on this one.

I have not seen the movie.

But I just watched King Magnifico's supposed villain song, 'Is this the thanks I get', and if this song is any indication, everyone is right!

King Magnifico is a hero, not a villain!

He comes off as the King Triton of the movie!

He's only looking out for his beloved Ariel!

Now, it is perfectly okay to have two heroes at odds with each other in a movie!

Ariel and King Triton were at odds for most of their movie, after all!

But the story should recognize, in the end, that both are heroes and good guys!

And lots and lots of people have commented on this!

And It sure looks to me like they are right!

King Magnifico sure looks like a hero to me, in this one song certainly!

And so I am adding my voice to the mix!

Now, this does not mean that the movie's princess hero is a villain!

Not at all!

Lots of good stories have two heroes at odds with each other!

But the story should absolutely recognize that they are both heroes!

Like 1989's The Little Mermaid does with King Triton!

I grew up on 1989's The Little Mermaid, and the thought of thinking of King Triton as a villain breaks my heart!

A good story can absolutely have two heroes at odds with each other in the main driving conflict!

(2000's X-Men movie, anyone?  The original Black Panther?  Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever?)

Anyway, I just wanted to add my two cents!

God loves you!  Tell the story your way if you want to change it!

Sincerely,

David S. Annderson
