Big Bird and other characters in Sesame Street sing about the various parts of the body.
Ernie and One Fine Face, Kermit the Frog loving his elbows, things like that.
But there is one part of the body that's different than the others. And that's the brain.
Big Bird cannot even sing about the brain without bringing in a little philosophy.
Or a lot of philosophy.
'Everybody's got a brain. Something wonderful to...'
Something wonderful to what?
You can't even talk about the brain without getting into some metaphysics, and real deeply at that!
What do you sing?
Do you go skeptical scientist and sing, 'Every time you think a thought...'
Or do you get a bit less skeptical and sing, 'Yes, every time you think with your mind, it connects to your body through your brain!'
You cannot even talk about what the brain does without getting deeply into metaphysics!
And neither can Big Bird.
For my part, I know what I believe.
Mind is the fundamental principle of reality.
Mind connects to your body through your brain.
And the nature of mind is to be affected by what is around it.
Especially what it is most deeply connected to.
Read Kapila for more.
And read Pure Land Buddhism and Plotinus's Enneads for a hint as to what Mind feels like when free of the constraints of matter!
God loves you!
