A Success Story: The Indie Adult Career of Macaulay Culkin

You look at the media, if you are looking for such things, about the life of former child star Macaulay Culkin, and you will hear the old line of a fallen child star.

I mean, look at him, they say, he has long hair and looks like a bum, he hasen't had a blockbuster hit since he was a child, doesn't he look troubled?

And meanwhile, the adult Macaulay Culkin is doing independent comedy films, skits, and webcast appearances that could be classic Saturday Night Live skits, some of them with millions of views on Youtube.

He does not have to please the mainstream.

He is an indie artist on his own terms, doing things that are natural for an indie comedy actor who is a fully grown adult.

If I were a former child star like he is, I would want to be living the life he is now.

Being an indie artist, not a mainstream star, doing it my way, not doing the same thing over and over, not living past child star glory but unafraid to comment on it.

Not living what would look like a successful life to the Hollywood mainstream, but doing my thing, actually creating worthwhile independent work, in his case comedy, in my case who knows, and actually being happy.

Elvis lived a tragedy as an established star.

Macaulay Culkin escaped that fate!

He has no Colonel plotting his career!

He is his own indie artist, and gets to be an adult and not live in the expectations of his child stardom!

This is a success story!

I get to do my thing and be happy doing it, and so does he!

Just my two cents worth!

God loves you!  Be Unafraid to live your own life!

Sincerely,

David S. Annderson
