A tribute to the American Golden Age
by Don McClean and David S. Annderson
A Long, long time ago I can still remember when the music used to make us smile
Living in a land of dreams, Star Trek Steven Spielberg dreams we knew we could be happy for a while
But the 90's made us shiver
With every paper they delivered
Bad news on the big set
Exaggerated madness
I can't remember if I cried
When the Challenger it died
But something touched me deep inside
The day the music died (which was sometime in 1991 between May and September (but it didn't really take effect until 1992))
So bye bye miss American pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
Them good ole boys are drinking whiskey and rye
And singing 'this'll be the day that I die'
'This'll be the day that I die'
Did you see the saucers fly
and do you feel happy when you cry
When someone goes back to his home
And do you believe in outer space
The starship Enterprise and faith
And do you still see the stars as where you roam?
Well, I knew that you believed it then
Cause I saw you staring at the Moon
We both played air guitar
We let that music soar!
I was a starstruck child of night
With a spaceship flying in my mind
And I just couldn't let it die
The day the music died
So bye bye miss American pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
Them good ole boys are drinking whiskey and rye
Singing 'This'll be the day that I die'
Singing 'This'll be the day that I die'
But I won't ever let that light die in me!
It lives in David S. Annderson!
God loves you!
Sincerely,
David S. Annderson
