Read slowly, think deep

I just came across an advertisement saying that you can train yourself to read faster.

And the fast words of the advertisement made me uncomfortable.

Why?

Because I didn't get a chance to think deeply about them and absorb them because they were speaking too fast.

I read slowly and think deeply.

I write fast when I am inspired.

But I read slowly. So I can think deeply.

I read slowly so I can savor every word, so I can feel every word deeply (because my deep thought goes by feel), so I can think about what I am reading as I read it.

When I listen to lectures from The Teaching Company, I often stop the DVD to respond with my comments.

Please, if you really want to learn, don't train yourself to read faster.

If you really want to learn, do as I do- read slowly and think deeply. You owe it to yourself.

God loves you!

Sincerely,

David S. Annderson
