Here in America people think it's traditional for people to be mean and strict to their kids and spank them. And they think it's traditional for people to be mean and strict in general.

No, it's not traditional- it's Calvinist. Calvinist ideas are not traditional.

Calvinism is barely older than America, and it's only a very tiny part of the Western European civilization.

What is traditional is for the adults to be responsible first, and then to expect kids to follow. And for people to be responsible themselves first, and set an example for people.

Let's celebrate real traditional ideas, not stupid angry Calvinist ideas.
