Clouds
By Joni Mitchell and David S. Annderson
Rows and flows of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feathered canyons everywhere
I've looked at clouds that way
But now they only block the sun
And rain and snow on everyone
So many things I could have done
But clouds got in the way
But now I see they bring us Life
Water the plants upon the ground
They bring us food and water too
They bring us everything
I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From in and out, and now at last
At last I think I know the truth
I really know clouds at last
Moons and Junes and Ferris wheels
The dizzy dancing way you feel
As every fairy tale comes real
I've looked at Love that way
But now it's just another show
You leave them laughing as you go
And if it hurts don't let them know
Don't give yourself away
But now I know a loving God
The comfort of a mother's Love
A smile from a friend next door
That simply makes your day
I've looked at Love from both sides now
From in and out, and now at last
At last I think I know the truth
I really know Love at last
Tears and fears and feeling proud
To say I Love You right out loud
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds
I've looked at Life that way
But now old friends are acting strange
They shake their heads, they say I've changed
Well, something's lost, but something's gained
In living every day
But now I know a new friend's love
A smile from a friend next door
The beauty of the clouds above
That look like angel's hair
I've looked at Life from both sides now
From in and out and now perhaps
Someday I might just learn the truth
I really might know Life someday
God loves you!
Sincerely,
David S. Annderson
P. S. This is called 'Clouds' because at first it was just the first verse about clouds! I guess I had more than I thought!
