In my humble dwelling place
A thing occurred you'd think is strange
A six-legged companion bit me
I didn't react with rage
He asks so little of me now
Just a little bit of blood
I can replace easily
By eating a bit of food
It doesn't even itch later
He is an odd mosquito that way
And later I bid him well
And hope he's safe on his way
For if he were squished I'd be so sad
For he doesn't bother me much
And then I bid him farewell
And hope that all is well
For life is precious all
And I am harmed not much
And I wish no harm with my touch
God loves you! I wish you no harm too!
Sincerely,
David S. Annderson
P.S. When I was a kid when I saw a bug or a spider or something I had two thoughts:
OMG it will bite me or sting me and
OMG I don't wanna squish it
Over the 40+ years of my life I have so seldom been bit or stung in a way that hurt that the first reaction has dulled
I have cultivated the second assidiously while trying to dull its fear and panic
But despite this, I would make a very bad Jain monk
I believe in Jain nonviolence But I am clumsy and a worrier I would not make it as a Jain monk I greatly admire those who do and try my best, just as Emperor Chandragupta Maurya did!
God loves you!
