Steven Spielberg, E.T., and Human Nature

I just got finished watching Steven Spielberg's E.T., which pretty much shaped my entire creative career, for the first time in a long time.

And one thing that stood out to me was this: how brilliant an understanding of human nature Spielberg and scriptwriter Melissa Mathison have, of both the adults and the children- and the audience, adult and child alike.

I know history.  I know story.  I know science.

I don't know 2% of what they know on human nature.

They played me like a violin, and my entire career is the result- that, and so much joy!

I bow down to the masters.

God loves you!

Sincerely,

David S. Annderson

P.S. Steven Spielberg wanted Melissa Mathison to write the script for E.T. because she wrote the script to The Black Stallion- another all-time classic!  (Spielberg wrote Close Encounters himself!)
