A Dialogue Between Souls in Heaven

1st soul, shaking their head: "Down there"

2nd soul: 'Uh-huh.'

1st soul: "Running around like chickens with their heads cut off.  I mean, how much can you consume, anyway?"

2nd soul: 'Do they really think it makes them happy?'

1st soul: "yeah they do.  While they are miserable they think it makes them happy."

2nd soul: 'Give me a simple life in a beautiful place anyday.'

1st soul: "And they imagine all these dark fears.  For what?  What's the point?  To defend a life that you're just going to spend afraid?"

2nd soul: 'Didn't one of them once say that there is nothing to fear but fear itself?'

1st soul: "In the middle of the hellish early 20th Century no less."

2nd soul: 'What's the use of a life that we just spend afraid?  Don't they realize that they could spend their lives happy living a simple life in a beautiful place like we do?'

1st soul: "Why don't they try to make the inner cities more beautiful?  Don't they realize that that is what's wrong with them?  That they're ugly?"

2nd soul: 'I know.  Plant gardens.  Paint the walls in beautiful painting.  Ugly is not good for people.'

1st soul: "But you know that this is just a passing phase down there,  It used to be more like up here!  It will be again!"

2nd soul: 'Amen to that!  But they have all this waiting for them at the end, remember that!'

1st soul: "Yeah, I just came from that!  I worked in a soup kitchen.  I drew pictures in my spare time.  People didn't realize how happy I was!"

2nd soul: 'Yeah, and you did not even need to be good at it!  Badly drawn pictures and badly packaged love are the beauties of Life!'

1st soul: "Let's pray for them down there."

2nd soul: 'Yeah, let's pray for them.'

And so they pray, for all of us, in Arabic and in southern English, up there together, thinking of us, and it makes them happy

God loves you!

Sincerely,
