It is 2023. Pope Francis has been trying to create a kinder, more caring Catholic Church.
Opposing him are his right-wing American foes, led by Raymond Burke.
Raymond Burke does not like Pope Francis.
They are concerned about Pope Francis's openness to giving Communion to the 'wrong' people.
Pope Francis is welcoming to the wrong people.
We need a Pope who lays down the law.
One who presents doctrine in black and white terms.
One who does not help migrants in need.
In short, Raymond Burke wants Mussolini for Pope.
None of this goody two shoes kindness crap. We need a Fascist Pope who will persecute gays and lay down the law!
Fuck Jesus's kindness crap, that is old-fashioned!
We need a new Catholic church!
I'm sorry, but it's people like Raymond Burke that are the reason why I don't go to church anymore here in America.
We need a church of kindness, including kindness to gays, and kindness to liberals, and kindness to anyone and everyone who is not politically correct to a conservative Christian.
Maybe the Catholic church is dying.
Maybe the Protestant churches are dying too.
The church will live on in Bulgaria.
The church will live on in Romania, and in Athens, and in Poland.
If anyone can save the Catholic church, it is Poland.
If not, the Balkans will be our new Christian heartland.
Sophia will be our new Jerusalem.
And Bucharest. And Athens.
