1Z-1: Taking Strength from the Example of Armenia, Georgia, and the Jews

For thousands of years Armenia was fought over by great Empires.

Nestled in the mountains in a great crossroads of the world, Armenia was right where Empires of the Mediterranean would tend to meet Empires of Iran.

They fought over borders.

In Armenia.

For centuries.

The Romans and the Parthians. The Romans and the Sassanid Persians. The Ottomans and the Safavids.

Also caught in the middle of this was Georgia. The borders these Empires fought over usually passed through Georgia.

For thousands of years the Armenians and the Georgians have held on like Roman stoics, making the best of it.

And they made it.

Armenia still exists, its culture is still distinct, its people are still there. Georgia still exists as well.

They made it.

For almost two thousand years the Jews were without a home.

They wandered the world, homeless, making it the best they could.

And they, too, made it.

There are millions of Jews throughout the world.

They have given us some of the past 130 years' greatest genius.

For two thousand years the Jews held on like Roman stoics, making the best of it.

And they, too, made it.

And have given the world some of its finest genius!

Including one of my artistic heroes, Steven Spielberg, one of the most fundamental infulences on everything I do as a writer.

We, too, in the difficulties of the modern world, can follow their example.

We, too, in America, in lands all across the modern world, can hold on like Roman stoics and make the best of it.

The Armenians made it.

The Georgians made it.

The Jews made it.

We can make it too.

Sincerely,

David S. Annderson
