Feng Shui is a real science!

There is a science that today people in the west call interior design.

This is the science of arranging the interior of a room so that its artistic impression on one's mind makes one feel good.

This is what Feng Shui is.

It is not magic. It is not superstition.

Feng Shui is the art and science of interior design.

The people of India and China compiled thousands of years worth of experience on how to arrange buildings and their interior so that the artistic impression upon people's minds makes people feel good.

This is a real science- the science of the art of interior design.

In India these principles were written down in the Vastu Shastra texts among other principles of architecture.

And in China the Taoists compiled their learning in the principles of interior design in the traditional texts which are the source of Feng Shui today.

The people of India and China had centuries- thousands of years- to study how the principles of the Upanishads, The Buddha and Lao-tzu could be applied to interior design in order to produce a positive artistic affect on the mind. We in the West are babies at interior design by comparison. We have not yet even formulated scientific rules for interior design yet.

Feng Shui and the principles in the Vastu Shastra are the result of many centuries of research guided by the wisdom of The Buddha, the Upanishads, Lao-tzu and Chuang-tzu.

It is, of course, important to find a Feng Shui master who has read the classic ancient texts and knows the traditional wisdom as it was written down long ago, for this is a science and these are textbooks.

It is all about how the interior- or exterior- of a room or building affects the mind in its artistic affect.

Wonder why the direction- North, South, East, or West- is so important?

Sunlight. The Sunlight comes from a specific direction. In the northern hemisphere the sunlight comes more from the south

(which means that in the southern hemisphere you should reverse the roles of the north and south- for the sunlight is coming more from the north!)

It is better for living people to face south in the northern hemisphere. Because the Sun is more to the south in the northern hemisphere, and the south gets more sun.

East gets more sun in the morning. West gets more light in the afternoon.

All these things were figured out by the ancient Chinese and the people of India- all this and more. The affect of colors on the mind, the affect of a river near the house on the mind, where a lamppost should be placed to make one's mind feel happy. All this and more.

All to describe how to create an artistic affect that will make you feel good- and good in a way The Buddha, Lao-tzu, Jesus and the Roman Stoics would have liked- not an excited good that will burn itself out, but a nice, warm, calming good that will last.

That is the science of Feng Shui.

All the things that seem to be magic are actually artistic principles- things that we see or hear that affect our mind and our mood.

And which to use?

The sunlight is different in the tropics. In the tropics use the Vastu Shastra, since India is in the tropics. The people of India are the ones with experience with the sunlight of the tropics and its affect on the mind. In the temperate zone, use Feng Shui, since China is in the temperate zone. And don't forget to switch the roles of north and south if you're in the southern hemisphere, since then the sunlight is coming more from the north!

Spread the word! This can make many people feel good like good art can! Art guided by good solid scientific principles. Scientific principles which are the sum of thousands of years of experience guided by the wisdom of great sages!

Sincerely,
