Let me tell you about all the Love in the Old Testament!

Sometimes you will hear talk of the harsh God of the Old Testament as opposed to the kind, loving God of the Gospels.

They are wrong.

I am here to tell you that there is just as much Love in the Old Testament as in the Gospels.

In the Book of Isaiah, where he tells you of the promise of the coming Messiah. In the Psalms. In stories like that of Joseph, and that of Esther, and that of Jonah.

There is so much love in the Old Testament. And there is not an idea in the Gospels that cannot be found somewhere in the Old Testament.

There are harsh parts in The Bible because The Bible is trying to help us with the really harsh things in life. Giving us the difficult answers to the difficult questions. There is so much killing and war in The Bible because The Bible is teaching us what to do when we are at war, what to do when people are killing each other. What to do when it is really harsh.

That's why there is sometimes harshness in The Bible- and just as much in the Gospels as anywhere. Because The Bible is teaching us what to do when it is really harsh out there and there are no easy answers. But there is so much Love in The Bible. And just as much in the Old Testament as in the Gospels.

By the way- it helps to have a King James translation. These modern translations try to fit the complex ideas of The Bible into simple language, and it just does not work very well. Most of The Bible is devoted to complex thought. The complex ideas in The Bible calls for the complex language of the King James translation. I find that in the King James translation it is a lot easier to understand what the message is, what The Bible is trying to tell us. The complex ideas of The Bible just don't fit well into simple language. They need the complex language of the King James version.

Anyway, as Bob and Larry say, God made you special, and He loves you very much!

Sincerely,

David S. Annderson
