The Monkees

The so-called 'fake group' of the 1960's...

If you want to see just how 'fake' these guys were, there are some live videos of The Monkees playing their own stuff... check out a performance of a song called 'Nine Times Blue' on the Johnny Cash show back in 1969... The Monkees were about as fake as a mother's love!

A performance that The Weavers or Peter, Paul and Mary would be proud of!

These guys were real talent!

Go back and listen to some of their singles!

Tracks like 'Pleasant Valley Sunday' and 'Daydream Believer', 'Valleri' and '(I'm not your) Stepping Stone' are among the great recordings of the era!

This is real talent, folks!  These guys can sing!

And listen to 'Headquarters' and 'Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn and Jones, Ltd.' to hear two of the more interesting albums of the era, full of great tunes!

A reevaluation of The Monkees is way, way overdue!

Put these guys in the Hall of Fame, please!

This is my two cents... real talent, musical and otherwise!

For they also had real talent as television performers- The Monkees was a great television show!

It's not for nothing that the great Stephen Stills auditioned hoping to be one of their songwriters!

Anyway, just my two cents on The Monkees!

God loves you!

Sincerely,

David S. Annderson
