The First Lofi Indie Masterpieces

I am about to tell you about two albums made in 1967 and 1968.

Yes, 1967 and 1968.    Indie lofi music in 1967 and 1968.

Music with simple, homemade charm, sincerity, warmth, and real genuine artistry.

In 1966 Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys made Pet Sounds.

Pet Sounds is not lofi.

Pet sounds is lush and orchestral.

But Pet Sounds began a creative experimentation for Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys.

That creative inspiration reached a snag when Brian Wilson, working himself to distraction on Pet Sound's groundbreaking, experimental follow-up, SMiLE, ran out of energy while stressed out and had a nervous breakdown.

But this was not the end.

The other Beach Boys got together, gave Brian some time and space, and then got together to help him get back to making music- this time with their help.

In this supportive environment, Brian Wilson was able to heal for a while and get back to making music.

Meanwhile, the other Beach Boys, in coming together to help Brian, discovered their own musical talent, as well as Brian's vision in the unfinished SMiLE.

And coming together to make music, the group soon caught magic.

Lightning in a bottle.

And made an amazing series of albums.

Starting with the two greatest indie lofi albums ever made.

Wild Honey and Friends.

If you love homemade charm, sincerity, and intimate artistry, with melody, with charm, with moments of joy- especially in Wild Honey- and serene calm- especially in Friends- than these albums just might be your new favorites.

This is just a part of the incredible series of albums that The Beach Boys made from 1967's Wild Honey to 1973's Holland, and also Dennis Wilson's Pacific Ocean Blue.

Just part of an incredible, varied catalogue.

God loves you!  Enjoy the music!

Sincerely,

David S. Annderson
