Rich men north of Richmond does Not raise red flags to me!

And neither does 'Try that in a Small Town'!

Honestly, 'Try that in a Small Town' is so obvious about its intentions that you have to be intentionally misreading it on a certain level to not understand it!

I didn't get an opportunity to watch the 2023 Republican candidates debates.

I did hear of the song 'Rich men north of Richmond'.

I just came from reading the song's lyrics.

And as an art and literary critic and a writer myself, and a die-hard Liberal and Moderate, I can say that the lyrics to this song does NOT raise any extremist red flags!

I do not find anything unreasonable in the lyrics to this song!

I implore you to look up the lyrics before you pass judgement on 'Rich men north of Richmond'!

Yes, this song describes why Trump's supporters are angry!

Their anger is not the problem!

The problem is that they feel that they are not being served by the current system, and are frustrated!

I for one believe that the answer is to reach out to them and, if at all possible, provide comfort!

And so, yes, this Liberal Moderate living on Social Security has read the lyrics to 'Rich men north of Richmond' and is giving the song my approval!

These things in these lyrics are real frustrations, legitimate frustrations that I hope some of us out there who disagree with them on a few political issues can hear and help soothe the frustrations!

I, for one, intend to earn my Social Security by putting forth my best effort at giving back as a writer, and I can understand the frustrations voiced in the song!

Nothing in those lyrics stands out as being particularly extremist!

Yes, these are the things that motivate Trump's followers.

Trump is misleading and taking advantage of them.

The frustrations are reasonable.

It is the way Trump and his people are taking advantage of those frustrations that is unreasonable.

If we as a society come together and listen to those frustrations, no matter which side of the political divide we support, than America will have far fewer problems!

The frustrations voiced in 'Rich men north of Richmond' deserve our sympathetic ear, not our fear!

So if those lyrics voice your frustrations, allow me to give you a sympathetic listening ear!

As a writer, I cannot give you much more than a sympathetic listening ear, but at least I can do that much!

And if you fear the song, allow me to sooth those fears- and then go ahead and look up the lyrics yourself and judge for yourself!

And to all those who are afraid or frustrated or hurt on either side, you have my sympathy!

God loves you and so do I!

Sincerely,

David S. Annderson
