India has one of the finest democracies in all history.
And I'm here to show it.
For there are people who are worried about India's democracy.
In 2014, for the first time in history, India's Congress was run by a single political party without the cooperation of other parties in a coalition.
Welcome to the two-party system.
Welcome to the America of Eisenhower and Kennedy.
This is not something to worry about.
Because this is how things have always worked in America.
Not once in all America's history has one party dominated the House, or the Senate, or the Presidency with the cooperation of other political parties.
There are no coalitions of political parties in America.
There never have been.
There is only the Republican party
And the Democrat party.
India is experiencing the way America has been run throughout its history.
India is experiencing the way America was run in the days of Kennedy and Eisenhower.
There were never any coalitions in those days.
There was Eisenhower and the Republicans.
And then there was Kennedy and the Democrats.
And there have been plenty of times when the same party dominated both the House, the Senate, and the Presidency, and didn't even have to work things out in shouting matches and delicate negotiations with the rival political party!
Like, for example, the Kennedy years!
And the Franklin Roosevelt years!
India has gone one step farther.
Modhi's Hindu conservative party has kept intact all the basic policies through which the long dominant liberal party represented Muslims.
So many of those basic policies are intact.
Not in America.
In America a political party would not be caught dead supporting the policy of the rival party.
We're lucky they didn't dismantle Social Security and leave thousands to starve.
You actually have a conservative party continuing the policies put in place by the rival liberal party of Indira Gandhi!
A political party in America wouldn't be caught dead doing that!
We fight tooth and nail over details of policy!
They wouldn't touch Social Security- but only because they would loose millions of votes, and only because Social Security is an independent system that does not rely on the annual budget!
And yet your Hindu conservative party is actually honoring so many policies put in place by Indira Gandhi's party to represent Muslims!
Try to find a minority in America served as well as Muslims in India!
Look, you guys are already way ahead of America!
You do not have to fear for your democracy!
You have no idea what a good job you guys have been doing the past 70 years!
You are literally backsliding- backsliding- to the way America was run in the days of Eisenhower when America was the shining hope of the world!
Do not be afraid for your democracy!
India is literally the textbook example of a well-run Democracy!
God loves you! Be not afraid- for America has been there- in her finest hours, no less! God loves you!
