Using the Lord's name in vain

One of the Ten Commandments says to not use the Lord's name in vain. A lot of people don't understand what that means.

It has nothing to do with swear words.

It means don't use the Lord's name for vain, selfish, greedy purposes.

If my Tourette's Syndrome causes me to shout the Lord's name, this is not using the Lord's name for greedy purposes.

It's crying for help.

Crying for help is not using the Lord's name in vain. Because it is not selfish or vain to ask for help.

That's what not using the Lord's name in vain means.

So go ahead! Use the Lord's name to cry for help!

That's what He's there for!

God will understand!

And if that cry for help takes the form of swear words because you can't help it, God will know and God will understand! Because that's what He's there for!

To be there for you when you are at your most desperate!

God loves you! And He wants you to be unafraid to cry to Him for help!

Sincerely,
