Zack Snyder's DC movies are famously dark and gritty, just like the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight trilogy.
But there is a reason that I loved the first and third Dark Knight movies, and not the highly-acclaimed second.
For the first and third of Christopher Nolan's Batman movies dared to hold out hope, while the second, 2008's The Dark Knight, seemed to only be trying to prove that darkness is stronger and that we should give up hope.
But darkness was only so strong in that movie because it was written that way, and that writing was not realistic.
For a person intelligent enough to pull off what the Joker pulls off in that movie would be a top CEO or Senator in Congress easily.
Why would he turn to a life of crime and skulking in the shadows when he can live in a penthouse and never have to hide from the cops?
That movie was not as realistic as it looks, for someone with the intelligence to pull off what the Joker pulls off could be a millionare or a leader of Congress!
And in real life, there is hope!
In real life, our world survived the Apocalypse between 1914 and 1945 to go on to give us the world of the 57 Chevy and land a man on the Moon less than 25 years later!
But it is not just the hope of light in the face of the darkness that is more realistic
It is the hope of light in the face of the darkness is more inspiring and beautiful!
And that is exactly what I saw in Zack Snyder's Justice League, which I just saw for the first time!
All the light and hope in the face of darkness that is in 2011's Wonder Woman is in that sorely underrated movie!
I still love the first and third Dark Knight movies.
But Zack Snyder has clearly studied the great Batman movies from the early 90's, the ones with Michael Keaton, and something else besides, something deep and powerful.
Including all the deep divine hopes that were written into the original Superman and Wonder Woman comic books!
I recommend his DC movies, based on his Justice League!
(I have also heard that the Aquaman movie is quite good! (in this case it's me taking it from you, though!))
God loves you! Keep your head up and look to the light! There is always hope!
Sincerely,
David S. Annderson
