In The Rose, Bette Midler sings, 'it's the heart afraid of being taken that never learns to give'
And this may be true, but something else is true as well, something that I learned from C.S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia
And that's that the heart afraid of being taken never learns to receive!
For how can we let someone love us, how can we let someone save us, when we are looking out for everyone to be the enemy?
This is the meaning of the Jesus parable of the virgins!
This is why we must be ready to accept God, or at least Love, at any time!
Not because God won't come for us
For He will
But because the only thing standing between us and God's Love is ourselves!
And you don't need to accept Him as God
You only need to accept Love into your heart!
For if you are willing to let Love into your heart, you will find Love, you will find it all around you!
For example, as a Liberal in America, I could be suspicious of anyone who might be a Republican
And if I did, I would have half as many friends, for half of my best friends are Republicans!
And they are some of the finest, most faithful friends that I have!
We can always find reasons to be suspicious of people!
But if we open up our hearts to Love, we will find ourselves surrounded by good friends!
And I gurantee you, if you open your heart to Love, God will be able to reach you, for God reaches us through Love!
You might not accept God to be real until you meet Him face to face at the end of your life
But when you do, you will realize that you have felt His love throughout your life!
But you need to open your heart to Love first! Only then will you see it!
Be like Eliot from E.T., don't live a suspicious CSI life!
You will be rewarded with more friends than you ever imagined you would have!
God loves you!
Sincerely,
David S. Annderson
