Crime does not happen without a cause.
Every crime has a motivation, even if it is an irrational one.
Pain is one such cause.
People hurt sometimes, and sometimes people lash out in pain and commit crimes.
What if you could cure a criminal of the pain that drove them to commit crimes with surgery?
What if, say, by prescribing the right medication you could cure someone of the pain that caused them to lash out and hurt people?
What if someone was in prison because they lashed out and beat up someone because they had PTSD, and you could cure the PTSD with surgery?
That is exactly what some people want to do.
Only when it is described in the news it sounds crazy, because the reporters don't realize the true significance of what is going on.
Perhaps you have heard in the news of judges and others in the government who want the government to pay for sex change surgery for people in prison.
Thing is, identifying strongly as one gender and being, on the outside, the other causes stress, more in some people than in others.
Psychiatrists tell us that this can even drive people to suicide.
Well, anything that can drive someone to suicide certainly can drive someone to lash out and commit a crime.
If someone was in prison because they beat up someone because they had PTSD, and we had a medicine that could cure PTSD, it would be a no-brainer.
To cure someone of their criminal tendencies with medicine or surgery?
Well, if the pain that led them to lash out was caused by the stress of being on the outside a man but identifying as a woman, sex change surgery will eliminate that stress and pain.
If there was a chance, and the cost was far less than what we were already paying for that person to sit in prison, surely this would at least meriting consideration.
These are people who are suffering.
We can help.
Just because they couldn't handle the suffering does not mean they should not get the cure.
Who knows what good it could do, even if the only effect on the rest of the world was in making our prisons less stressful.
The more pain and stress we remove from the world, the better.
It is not just gender-conflicted people who are sane that deserve the help.
It is not just gender-conflicted people who take care of kittens and help their neighbors that deserve the help.
Those driven mad by their pain need it even more.
Food for thought.
God loves you!
Sincerely,
