Some historians will tell you that childhood is a modern invention of the Victorian age.
And you know what, they're right.
The idea that fantasy, joy, playfulness are only for children is a modern invention.
The idea that children should be sheltered and women and old men should not be is a modern invention.
And not just old men- the idea that young men should not be sheltered from the kind of things that old men are stronger at- mental things, leadership, leading a family- that is a modern invention.
Jesus turned water into wine, Arab and Chinese poets of old frolicked the night away.
Greek philosophers did weird experiments just for the hell of it.
The idea that childhood is only for children is a modern invention of the Victorian age.
The idea that it can't be combined with manly responsibility is a modern oversimplification.
in 1750 AD, most of the world believed that the values reprasented in Steven Spielberg's E.T. were for men, not just for children.
Food for thought!
God loves you!
Sincerely,
