We're in American mainstream culture since the early 90's. Let's tell a realistic story!
One with shootings, and crime, and fear!
Let's pretend that every time someone walks down the street they see someone get shot!
Let's pretend that there are no sunny days, and kittens and songbirds and beautiful places like Yosemite don't exist!
Let's pretend that children that are not rich and spoiled rarely get past high school without becoming dropouts or meth addicts!
Because all those stories from back in 1980's America where people were happy and went to the park and listened to nice music are so unrealistic!
No one ever had a happy day when they went someplace pleasant with their friends to listen to happy pop music and dance!
Modern grimdark is Not realistic!
People really do have happy days!
Cute cats and songbirds and sunny days do exist!
We really do have friends at Starbucks!
Yosemite, the Swiss Alps and Yellowstone really are beautiful!
And a million other breathtakingly beautiful places in the world!
