The Chronicles of Narnia is not an allegory!

It is more than that!

At least, not what most people think of as allegory, which is one thing standing in as a metaphor for something it is not.

Similarly, Journey to the West is not an allegory.

Journey to the West (a Chinese novel from the Ming Dynasty where the West is India) is often said to be an allegory for the difficult journey to Buddhist enlightenment.

It is not.

It is not something else standing in as a metaphor for the difficult journey to Buddhist enlightenment.

It is the real, actual journey to Buddhist enlightenment of its fictional main characters.

Similarly, the Chronicles of Narnia are not an allegory for Jesus and Christianity.

They are the stories of what, according to the author, the real Jesus would do if he were sent to the fictional land of Narnia.

They are not something else standing in for Jesus.

They are the stories of what the real Jesus would do if he were sent to the fictional land of Narnia.

Of course, in a land where most of the people are talking animals, Jesus would not come as a human. He would come as a talking animal.

And if those animals regarded the lion as king of the animals, Jesus would come as a talking lion.

Aslan is the real Jesus, doing in the fictional land of Narnia what the real Jesus, according to author C. S. Lewis, would do if He were sent to the fictional land of Narnia.

And thus the Chronicles of Narnia is not an allegory.

It is more than that.

God loves you! Don't give up hope!

Sincerely,
