Blues

I am now gonna pay tribute to a great American music, Blues.

American music began with Gospel and Blues.

And Gospel knows everything that Blues knows.

And more.

And Blues has things to teach.

Things it taught well.

Blues taught Jazz to have Soul.

Blues taught John Coltrane to wail like a night bird.

Blues gave Black Sabbath their heavy fuzz tone.

Blues has a few things to teach

That can be applied to just about any kind of music.

Happy music.

Joyful music.

Deep meditative music.

And one of them, perhaps the most fundamental, is this.

And that is to play the note that Feels right

Even if it is far from purfect

Because sometimes the least purfect notes

Are the best ones.

Like that John Coltrane wail.

Especially if it has feeling.

And to play the Blues, you play from your own heart

So when Jimi Hendrix played the blues

It sounded very different from when Muddy Watters played it.

For Jimi Hendrix knew a very different world than the one Muddy Watters grew up in

And he believed in that new world with all his heart!

God loves you!

Sincerely,

David S. Annderson
