Am I a historian?  I answer a question for you

Just in case any of my readers out there are wondering, or would like to know, I would like to tell you about myself as a writer of history.

Am I a historian?

First of all, what is a historian?

A historian is a scientist who studies history.

Anyone who studies sources in order to figure out the correct facts or the correct interpretation of facts, as a rational scientist, is a historian.

For example, if you want to look through sources and figure out an answer to the question, "did the Roman Empire fall in 476 AD, or was it still around after this"; if you try to use reason and science to answer this question, or one like it, than you are a historian.

So: am I a historian?

I write histories.

My main goal in these histories is simply to show you and people like you what wonderful things are out there in history.

And so I am a historical storyteller.

A writer of stories set in history.

But these stories are meant to be factually correct in every detail.

And so I am a writer of stories that are meant to be factually correct histories.

I am a historical storyteller.

But I hope to be also giving insight into history as a historian in these stories.

I hope to be doing the job of a historian as well.

The more rational insight I can provide onto the history, the more interesting the story, and the better it reflects the reality of these wonderful things that I want to show you.

So my primary job in my stories is to be a storyteller, not a historian- but I hope to do a decent job of being a historian as well.

I also build upon the work of many, many good historians.

If I have seen far, it is because I have stood on the shoulders of giants.

Many of them historians.

Hope you enjoy my stories and my telling of how I see myself as a writer!

God loves you!

Sincerely,

David S. Annderson
