European music and West African music: they were made for each other!

These are the roots of American music: combining African music with European music.

European music is based on layering multiple melodies on top of each other.

West African music is based on layering multiple rhythms on top of each other.

Can you imagine anything more made for each other?

This is the roots of the Blues, Jazz, Soul, Rock, Gospel and modern Jazz: combining European music and its harmony and polyphony, which layers multiple melodies on top of each other, and the polyrhythm of African music, which layers multiple rhythms on top of each other!

And this is the music that healed America.

They were meant for each other!
