The Siamese cat scene in Lady in the Tramp is not racist!

Why in God's name does anyone think that anything in that scene has anything to do with caricatures of humans?

The entire scene is a pair of cats

acting just like normal cats!

The cats go after the goldfish

Because that's what cats do!

They eat fish!

The cats cause trouble

Because that's what animals often do when they are brought into a strange house!

Especially animals as curious as cats!

Ever had a raccoon in the house?

I bet they caused trouble too!

The cats sing 'We are Siamese if you please'

Because they are Siamese Cats!

If they had been tabbies they would have sang

'We are tabbies if you want us to be

We are tabbies if you don't like us!'

But we love Siamese cats more than we love tabbies!

The cats are made to seem mysterious

Because cats are mysterious!

And that's what we love about them!

Nothing in that scene has anything to do with caricatures of humans from Asia!

What, do we think Asian people eat goldfish?

No- we think college boys in America eat goldfish!

And we think that cats eat goldfish!

The whole entire scene is a pair of cats acting just like cats!

And when I was a kid, all of us kids knew that, because kids learn about cats very early in life!

We knew that the Siamese cats were acting just like cats, and the only connection with humans in Asia is that the ancient Egyptians loved cats!

And we loved them, because they acted just like cats, and we loved cats!

After all, they were not trying to get Lady in trouble- they were just acting like natural cats, especially cats in a strange house!

God loves you!

Sincerely,

David S. Annderson

P. S. I love Asian people and Asian civilization with all my heart! I would be the first person to defend them, for that is where my true heart lies!
