advice to artists

I thought I had done this already, but I guess I didn't. Here's my advice to my fellow artists:

-Follow your passions and do what you love. Sonny Rollins gives the same advice. You become great by practicing, and you practice because you really, REALLY want to, whether for fun or because it is important to you to get better. No one ever got good because they were forced to practice.

-Think and talk about your Art when you're not writing/painting/whatever. You wouldn't believe how important this has been for me!

-Let yourself get carried away as you talk/think about your art! It will free your mind and you will have fun too!

-Don't worry if other people will like it. If YOU like it, other people will too. You're not alone in your taste in art.

-Find your own creative process and routine (or in my case, lack of a routine!). Go with what works for you!

-And remember, no matter how good or bad you are at first, you WILL get better with practice- a lot better. Though you might not notice it until you compare your new work with older work! But remember, you can always re-do your early work once you've got better!

-And remember, have fun!!!!!
