I just ran across this comment on YouTube from someone called 'rainbow warrior': "Every time I hear a song from Bulgaria I feel a lost note in my heart of ancient glory, peace and unity that has been purposely erased from history but still remains undestroyed. I still search for the rest of the notes"
Amen to that!
From Christian conversion in 864 until the early 960's Bulgaria went through one of the most wonderful brilliant Golden Ages in the history of Civilization!
Beautiful Christian Mediterranean Slavic culture, with beautiful churches worthy of Golden Age Athens or the lost island of Atlantis in the beautiful capital cities of old Pliska and Preslav in a great crossroads of the world!
Read more about it in my special tribute to the Golden Age of Bulgaria in my history 'Magnifacent Survivors A Thousand-Year History of Russia', which is otherwise about Russia- and get a glimpse too of the beautiful Christian Roman Empire, or Byzantine Empire, that Bulgaria grew up around and learned Christianity from! (Although the Bulgarian form was unique and reflected many things including old Slavic and Bulgar culture!)
