Here in the west we probably associate the name with the notorious Saddam Hussain. That is unfortunate. Because the name was originally popularized by a great hero and martyr, one whose leadership helped bring peace back to the Islamic world in a time of crisis and a man who was wrongfully martyred- whose martyrdom moved the entire Islamic world, Sunni and Shiite.

A man whose martyrdom is mourned every year by every Shiite Muslim to this day.
