Abstract modern art: tell us what it means

I am one of those people who looks at a piece of abstract modern art and asks: what is it supposed to represent?

I am not putting it down.

I am not saying, 'this is not real art.  It does not represent anything.'

I'm asking you to explain what makes it real art.

I'm asking you to explain what makes it interesting.

Is it just a blob of color?

Or is it supposed to make us think or feel something?

And if so, what?

A lot of people have been creating modern art.

But that modern art needs an explanation.

Many of us are not knowledgeable insiders.

Many of us need to be told what it is that the art is supposed to be making us think or feel.

Not everyone who looks at modern abstract art and says, what is it supposed to represent, is putting it down.

A lot of us are asking to have it explained what it is supposed to be making us think or feel.

And hopefully it will feel beautiful.

Because if it does, than that is beauty.  And that beauty is real.

Many of us just need to be told what it is supposed to be doing to us first.

God loves you!

Sincerely,

David S. Annderson
