Before you say that Beyonce is underrepresented in The Grammys for having a record number of wins and nominations, but very few in the big, mainstream Big Four categories:
The Beach Boys (Pet Sounds, SMiLE) have NONE
Led Zeppelin have NONE
Classic Motown, save only for Stevie Wonder, has just A FEW
And many of the top Grammy winners of all time have their Grammys entirely in specialty categories, just like Beyonce:
George Solti Classical 31 wins 74 nominations
Chick Corea Jazz 27 wins 71 nominations
John Williams Film music 26 wins 76 nominations
Pretty good company!
I'm pretty sure that a fair number of Quincy Jones's 28 wins and 80 nominations are in the specialty jazz and r&b categories where Chick Corea and Beyonce have their wins as well!
Very few who have a lot of big Big Four Grammy wins are anywhere close to Chick Corea and John Williams's records, let alone Beyonce's, so Queen Bey is in some pretty damn good company!
Hey- the legendary Beach Boys and Led Zeppelin have none at all, the legendary Brian Wilson only two, none for Pet Sounds at all!
Stevie Wonder might have more Grammy wins than the whole rest of 60's and 70's Classic Rock and R&B save only for Bruce Springsteen and Aretha Franklin!
We're talking The Who, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, all of classic Motown save for Stevie Wonder, and much more!
I wish they had specialty categories for Pink Floyd and The Beach Boys to win, and I wish the Temptations and the O-Jays had won more in theirs!
I'd say those specialty categories have some of the best artists that the Grammys have recognized!
Just to put things in perspective!
Thank you for the music, Beyonce- you're in pretty good company!
I mean, George Solti, John Williams, Chick Corea, wow!
God loves you!
Sincerely,
David S. Annderson
