The same goes for Down's Syndrome! Many Brain-differences ('Neurodivergences') are a gift, and should be treated as such!
My Autism is like Olympic Gymnastics: yes, it's difficult, yes I can get hurt, but it's as exciting and thrilling as a Steven Spielberg movie, and I have such beautiful things that I can show the world! (Like, all of my writing! This is not possible without my Autism!) It's the difficult life that is worth it! (and anyway, as REM said, everybody hurts sometimes! That much is normal! It's the difficult life that is worth it!)
We do not need to be 'Cured'! We need understanding and love, just like anyone!
Down's Syndrome is a gift too! The happiest households are the ones with someone with Down's Syndrome! They have such a gift with gentle social skills and kindness, trust me, an Autistic like me who is hypersensitive to emotions who had close friends of the family growing up who had a delightful girl with Down's Syndrome should know! (That was the happiest, most serene household I have ever known!)
We have gifts to give the world, and we don't want to be 'Cured'!
The same goes for many other Brain-Differences, like Dyslexia!
Please! Give understanding, don't fight us! We don't want to be 'Cured'!
God loves you! Try to understand and be kind! We will be so grateful!
Sincerely,
David S. Annderson
