The Purpose of the Fourteen Points

The main purpose of the Fourteen Points was to come up with a strategy for ending the war and international cooperation. Wilson created the 14 points as a way to reach his goals. His goal was to set out specific criteria that he wanted to achieve throughout World War I. He felt that if the United States was going to fight in Europe and soldiers were going to lose their lives, we were going to establish exactly what they were fighting for. Through the Fourteen Points, Wilson became the only leader of the countries fighting in the war to publicly outline his war goals.
