Tensions Rising

the American government and administrations had good intentions by adding isolation to foreign policy but this separation began to contribute to the tension prior to World War II. As the United States moved away from diplomatic and economic involvement with both Europe and China is built strife between the powerful nations. To prevent selling and receiving from belligerent countries the United States increased its import tariff prices to avoid doing business with foreign countries. Ultimately this led to Europe and China raising their import tariff prices as well. At the time following World War I American citizens were under the influence that it was best for the country to stay neutral and not be involved, therefore the government had kept the policies in tune with public opinion.
