1918 The First World War comes to an end

1919 The Paris Peace Conference is held where Allied leaders met and drew up Treaty of Versailles and other peace treaties

1920 The League of Nations set up to sort out disputes between nations fairly

1923 Crisis in Germany occurs while France invades the Ruhr and inflation makes money worthless

1925 The Locator Treaties: Germany seems to accept the Treaty of Versailles

1926 Germany joins the League

1928 The Kellogg-Briand Pact is passed which allows most nations to agree not to go to war to settle international disputes

1929 The Wall Street Crash, followed by worldwide economic depression

1931-1933 Manchurian Crisis occurs. As a result, Japan begins building a pacific empire

1933 Japan leaves the League, Hitler becomes the leader of Germany and Germany leaves the League

1933-1935 Germany rearms

1935-1936 Abyssinian Crisis hits and Italy invades Abyssinia

1936 German troops enter the Rhineland

1937 Italy leaves the League

1938 Chamberlain's policy of appeasement culminates in the Munich agreement

1939 Germany invades Poland. As a result, World War 2 begins
