Vietnam's history clearly shows that the country has always been ruled by other countries. There was a time in which Vietnam was under the control of the French. However, they were defeated, splitting Vietnam in half, Northern Vietnam being communist, and Southern Vietnam, anti-communist. For a while the United States was not involved. However, fearing that communism would spread to the rest of the world, our army was sent out to fight with Southern Vietnam against the North.
