Manifest Destiny

The Manifest Destiny was considered the basis for the U.S. foreign policy in the 19th and 20th centuries just like the Monroe Doctrine. This term refers to the continental expansion by the United States from Atlantic to Pacific. The Manifest Destiny was also used to justify the U.S. annexation of many states like Texas, Oregon, New Mexico, and California.

Rooselvelt Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine

Theodore Roosevelt expanded the Monroe Doctrine in 1904 and 1905. This corollary says that the United States has the responsibility to keep order and protect like and properties in those countries.
