Key Figures
Thomas Jefferson: Born April 13, 1743, in Shadwell, Virginia. He was the 3rd President of the United States and responsible for the Louisiana Purchase. But we believe his biggest accomplishment was being the first person to write a draft of the Declaration of Independence which the Continental Congress appointed him along with five other people to create the Declaration of Independence.
Ben Franklin: Born January 17, 1706, in Boston, Massachusets. Known as an inventor/scientist that created and discovered many things. He was one of the Founding Fathers who helped draft the Constitution of the United States and arrange the 1783 Treaty of Paris ending the Revolutionary War. Franklin helped to draft the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, even though it was said that he was a talented writer, he didn't really contribute to the drafting of the document and blamed his lack of participation on poor health.
