The Lend-Lease act was brought up in March 1941. This act gave authorization from the president to transfer supplies such as arms and any other defense materials. The battle of Britain was in its full destruction. Hitler was on the verge of letting shots be fired while Britain was in need of ships, airplanes, and tanks to fight Hitler and his army. The prime minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill, had to beg Roosevelt for help but the president could not interfere with the bloody world war. The Lend-Lease act allowed there to be a military aid to any country in need of arms, tanks, ships etc. This way, Great Britain got the help they needed because of the Lend-Lease act. In December 1941, Japan forced the entry of the United States into the war. Franklin D. Roosevelt then relied on the strategic advantage of also supplying the Soviet Union with arms because of the Lend-Lease act, as well since this could draw away Hitler's recourses from western Europe. The United States then would have a better chance at winning the war. The Lend-Lease act had a foundation for the past Marshall Plan, this provided aid to the European nation to help build an make a stronger economy due to the devastating war that occurred.
