Establishment of NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization)

NATO(North Atlantic Treaty Organization) was established on April 4, 1949 by the North Atlantic treaty, or the Washington treaty. Since the establishment begun, the original goals have not been changed nor has the treaty been rewritten. For the first time since the 1700s, the U.S. formally tied its security to that of Europe(the flash point of both world wars). This foreign policy helps keep the world at some kind of peace by joining forces with other nations to keep the threat from enemy nations away. This policy helps us deal with other nations when they are having trouble and gives us partners to join with when the U.S. goes through crisis.
