Key Figures

  1. James Madison (1751-1836)- Founding father who later became the 4th President of the United States. He served in office from 1809-1817 and was nick named "the Father of the Constitution".

  2. Andrew Jackson (1767-1845)- Major General in the United States Army during the War of 1812, who later served as the 7th president of the United States. During the War of 1812, Jackson was appointed a Major General and sent to New Orleans to prepare the city's defenses against a soon to come British attack.

  3. John Armstrong (1758-1843)- Secretary of War under President James Madison during the War of 1812. Armstrong served in the Continental Army during the American Revolution.
