1950 Fall 2011

    • On June 25, 1950 the Cold War began to get worse with North Korea's invasion into South Korea.

    • During the summer the U.S and United Nations tried to contain North Korea's army.

    • In mid-September an invasion at Inchon messed up North Korea's machines. In two months the UN went through North Korea, then they got pushed midway into South Korea. The Chinese army was forced to retreat and contained.

    • October 1 ROK pushed across the 38th parallel and North Koreans ignored McArthurs demand of surrender.

    • October 7-11 The British and Australians joined the ROK in the 38th parallel.

    • November 24 UN forces launched and it ended the war.

    • December 23 Lieut. Gen. W.H Walker died so Lieut. Gen. Mathew B. Rigway took command of UN forces.

    • December 24 U.S troops from Hungnam ended due to the evacuation.
