Affect on the World

United States Actions Affecting the World

The United States and Pakistan played a big part in the Mujahideen victory against the Soviet Union. Due to the immense amount of power, time, and money the United States gave to the Mujahideen, foreign military support was spread. The United States spent over 3.2 million dollars over 6 plus years helping the Mujahideen arm, train, and finance their struggle. The United States' involvement in the war peacefully forced the Soviet Union into uncontrollable spending in hopes of expanding their empire. Also, the Soviet Union's downfall was a result of the involvement of the United States in the Soviet-Afghan War. This caused the Soviet Union to struggle economically and politically, almost making them unable to recover.

The Soviet Union could not continue to expand its empire after the the Soviet-Afghan War. This showed the world how much power the United States has to change the outcome of a war. Due to the United States' alliance with Mujahideen, more countries started to support them, instead of the Soviet Union.
