How the Wars affected the U.S - Spring 2012

Six Day War:

-The U.S questioned to what their part was in the war. They were solidly in support of Israel but few grasped all of what really happened.- America was known for going against their own side, as they sent tanks to Jordan. They promised never to use them for a attack on Israel, even though they did. Jordan was never punished for that. - Christian-Jewish relation were on a strain, after the attack no one really trusted the U.S anymore.

Yom Kippur War:

-The Yom Kippur war affected many countries but one of the most powerful was the U.S.. After taking opposing sides with the Soviets the war could have, if it escalated further began WW III. It could be said that the U.S. support of Israel was an attempt at containment.

This only added to the tension of the Cold war, a conflict that would continue to covertly rage for years after the conflict.

-It could also be argued that the U.S. took sides with Israel because of there abundant oil reserves at the time.
